Great Reputation, No Online Visibility

Legacy Painting had been serving homeowners and commercial clients across the Lynnwood and greater Snohomish County area for years. Their work was excellent, their reviews were strong, and their repeat business was steady. But they had a problem that was costing them growth: nobody could find them online.

When we first audited Legacy Painting's digital presence, the picture was clear. Their website was outdated, slow, and not built to convert. Their Google Business Profile was incomplete. And their organic search rankings placed them on page 3 for nearly every keyword that mattered to their business. For a painting contractor in a competitive market, being on page 3 is effectively being invisible.

THE CHALLENGE

Buried in Google With a Website That Did Not Convert

Legacy Painting's challenges were common among small service businesses, but that did not make them any less damaging. Three issues were working against them simultaneously.

Page 3 Rankings in Google

For their most important keywords, including "painters Lynnwood WA," "house painting Snohomish County," and "commercial painting contractor near me," Legacy Painting sat on page 3 of Google search results. Most people never scroll past page 1, and virtually no one reaches page 3. The company was generating almost zero organic leads from search. All of their new business was coming from referrals and repeat customers, which meant their growth was capped by the limits of word of mouth alone.

No Local Visibility

Legacy Painting's Google Business Profile was incomplete. It lacked photos, had inconsistent business information, and had not been optimized for local search. They were not appearing in the Google Map Pack for any relevant queries, which is where the majority of clicks go for local service searches. Their NAP (name, address, phone) information was inconsistent across directories, which further hurt their local search signals. They had reviews on Google but were not actively managing or responding to them.

Website Not Converting

Even the small amount of traffic they did receive was not turning into leads. The website was slow, loading in 4.2 seconds on average. The design was outdated and did not convey the quality of their work. There were no clear calls to action, no service area pages, and no content that spoke to specific customer needs. The contact form was buried, and there was no phone number prominently displayed. For a painting contractor whose customers are often comparing three or four companies, the website was losing them before they ever made contact.

OUR APPROACH

A Five-Phase SEO and Web Design Strategy

We built a plan that addressed all three problems at once. The website rebuild and SEO campaign launched in parallel, with each phase reinforcing the others. The goal was to have a fast, conversion-optimized website in place to capture the traffic that the SEO work would generate.

Comprehensive Site Audit and Competitive Analysis

We started with a full technical audit of the existing website and a deep competitive analysis of the top-ranking painting contractors in the Lynnwood and Snohomish County markets. We identified every technical SEO issue, cataloged the content gaps, and mapped out exactly what it would take to outrank the competition. The audit covered site structure, page speed, mobile usability, crawlability, indexation issues, backlink profile, and content quality. The competitive analysis showed us which keywords the top three competitors were targeting, where their backlinks were coming from, and what content they had that Legacy Painting did not. This gave us a precise roadmap for the entire engagement.

WordPress Rebuild With Conversion Focus

We designed and built a new website from scratch on WordPress. Every page was structured around a single objective: get the visitor to request a quote. The homepage featured strong before-and-after photography, clear service descriptions, a prominent phone number, and a streamlined quote request form above the fold. We built dedicated pages for each service (interior painting, exterior painting, commercial painting, cabinet refinishing) and each service area. The site was fully responsive, ADA-compliant, and optimized for speed from the ground up. We used lightweight code, optimized images, browser caching, and a CDN to bring load time down from 4.2 seconds to 1.4 seconds.

Local SEO and Google Business Profile Optimization

We completely rebuilt Legacy Painting's Google Business Profile. This included updating all business information for accuracy, adding professional photos of completed projects, writing an optimized business description, selecting the correct categories, and setting up a review generation system. We also cleaned up NAP inconsistencies across over 40 local directories and citation sources. Consistent, accurate business information across the web is one of the strongest signals Google uses to determine local search rankings. We submitted Legacy Painting to industry-specific directories and ensured every listing matched exactly. We also implemented a process for Legacy Painting to request reviews from satisfied customers after every completed project.

Content Strategy Targeting 25 Keywords

We developed a content strategy built around 25 target keywords identified during the competitive analysis. These included primary service keywords ("house painters Lynnwood WA"), geographic variations ("painting contractor Edmonds," "painters near Mountlake Terrace"), and long-tail informational queries ("how much does it cost to paint a house in Washington"). For each keyword, we created or optimized a dedicated page or blog post. Service pages targeted commercial-intent keywords with strong calls to action. Blog posts targeted informational keywords that bring in top-of-funnel traffic and establish authority. Every piece of content was written by our in-house team, not generated by AI or outsourced overseas. The content was original, accurate, and genuinely useful to the reader.

Link Building

We executed a targeted link building campaign focused on acquiring high-quality, relevant backlinks from local and industry sources. This included outreach to local business organizations, partnerships with complementary home service providers, guest contributions to home improvement publications, and directory listings in painting and contractor-specific databases. Every link was earned through legitimate outreach and relationship building. We do not buy links, use private blog networks, or engage in any practices that violate Google's guidelines. The link building campaign was designed to build authority steadily over time and create a backlink profile that Google trusts.
